As key stake holders and members of Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania’s community, we wish to inform you of a change in how we will continue to fund the most critical breast health needs of our service area.
In April 2018, Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh and Susan G. Komen Northeastern Pennsylvania joined forces to form Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania. As such, Komen Greater PA is comprised of 53 counties involving 81% of Pennsylvania’s total square miles in which 46% of the state’s female population resides. Our service area encompasses most of rural PA as well as major cities and health care centers.
After a considered exploration of community needs and an assessment of the most strategic way to serve the highest number of residents throughout these 53 counties, Komen Greater PA will not be accepting Community Grant Applications. We are focused on providing screening and testing for breast cancer as well as financial support for those going through treatment for breast cancer. We will accomplish this through contracts with agencies to provide those services throughout the service area.
As we continue to meet the changing needs of the community we serve, our promise remains the same: to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on our mission efforts and review the best ways to address the breast health needs of our community each year.
