Where Your Money Goes
Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Komen was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life. Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community. Through events like the Komen Pittsburgh and NEPA Race for the Cures®, Komen Greater PA has raised more than $24.5 million to help fund local breast cancer education, screening, and treatment initiatives throughout our 53-county service area, as well as invested $10 million for breast cancer research that will help the organization meet its Bold Goal aimed at reducing the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent in the next decade.
